The Opportunity Legal Assistant

Stringham LLP is in search of an exceptional candidate to take on the challenging role of Legal Assistant, supporting a thriving practice in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The ideal candidate should possess 2-3 years of experience in litigation practice, which includes general and civil litigation, family and divorce, as well as wills and estates.

Key Responsibilities Of Legal Assistant

  • Create, transcribe, prepare, and organize general correspondence and legal documents spanning various practice areas to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage and organize legal and administrative files, including comprehensive indexing and tracking.
  • Receive, sort, and prioritize legal pleadings, maintaining an up-to-date calendar to ensure prompt responses and actions.
  • Conduct research, including identifying relevant legal precedents, articles, and decisions, and conducting investigative fact-finding.
  • Assist lawyer(s) in preparing for hearings, depositions, document production, and trials.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Suite for typing, formatting, and editing presentations, correspondence, and other documents.

Qualifications Needed :

  • Meticulous attention to detail, consistently delivering high-quality work with precision.
  • Advanced computer skills, coupled with strong organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Self-reliance and confidence in working independently.
  • Critical thinking ability to evaluate potential solutions and approaches to issues.
  • Effective communication, both written and verbal.
  • Professional demeanor, including adept management of client inquiries, collaboration with colleagues, lawyers, external clients, and outside service providers. Experience with high-conflict client situations is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with court filing procedures and deadlines.
  • Experience with ProLaw or Cosmolex is a plus.

Compensation & Working Hours:

Stringham LLP offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience. This is a regular full-time position with working hours from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, subject to occasional changes. They provide a comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, prescription drug, life insurance, critical illness, long-term disability, vacation, and sick time benefits.
